Literally "Drunk in Love"?

Millions of people watched the Grammy's last week and were somewhat shocked by Beyonce's introduction. Some said it was too racy and tastless for television others saying they have seen worse. In my opinion, I agree with both sides. Yes we have definately seen way crazier shows out there but it may have been a tad bit too much for young children. At least she was setting a sort of good example by doing that performance with her husband unlike Miley Cyrus and others. One thing is for sure, she got the audience and most viewers at home pumped up for the rest of the show. What are your thoughts on this performance? Do you believe this damaged her image at all or does she continue to be queen B?

Hip-Hop to me....

I did this Blog for all those Hip hop lovers and those wanting to know more about it. Those who see Hip Hop beyond being just music or rhymes but instead those who classify it as a way of life, culture, a fascinating love and a ground breaking expression, bringing all its elements into one piece. Hip Hop to me brings undeniable happiness and warmth to the heart knowing that it will always be there, just like Common says in "I used to love H.E.R".
Some say it started in the west, some say east, wherever Hip Hop may have originated, I'm very grateful it did because it has turned into a lifestyle. I'm not exactly sure what I'm aiming for at this moment in time, but who knows maybe some day ill be working for JAY-Z, or Def Jam records, or perhaps my own record label. I would release only the best MC's from around the world. Blending  a little underground music with a new flavor and a new style but still reminiscing on what got us to where we are today. Although many may believe Hip Hop is dead, i do not. There are so many artists out on the streets that have not been recognized for their extraordinary talents. So if you ever come across one, please give them the time of day and LISTEN because they might just be sharing their own lives in one simple verse.

Couldn't have said it better

Rap is something you do, Hip Hop is something you live. -KRS-one

Hip-Hop isn't just music, it is also a spiritual movement of the blacks! You can't just call Hip-Hop a trend! -Lauryn Hill

The world is yours. -Nas

Hip-hop has done so much for racial relations, and I don't think it's given the proper credit. It has changed America immensely. I'm going to make a very bold statement: Hip-hop has done more than any leader, politician, or anyone to improve race relations. -Jay Z

During your life, never stop dreaming. No one can take away your dreams. -Tupac Shakur

Well Hip Hop is what makes the world go around. Snoop Dogg

Hip-hop reflects the truth, and the problem is that hip-hop exposes a lot of the negative truth that society tries to conceal. It's a platform where we could offer information, but it's also an escape. -Busta Rhymes

Love & Basketball

Hello loves,
I am at work right now bored out of my mind!!! Lately I have been feeling sick, it must be this bi-polar Florida weather that is getting to me. In addition to feeling sick I have been missing New York sooo very much. It's just been one of those "blah" weeks, that nothing seems to be going your way. I listened to a lil bit of Tupac, Immortal Technique and Cassidy which made me feel better. I also checked out some artists from ReverbNation and was impressed by a few. Shout out to TRE'BARZ, keep doing your thing!

Most of you don't know but I love my basketball as much as I love my Hip Hop. As of now its the Conference Finals, and its not looking to great for both of the teams I want to end up in the finals, but I can't lose faith right? Im super excited for next season though to have my Orlando Magic playing, the improved Knicks with their recently traded players, Rashard Lewis back from his injury , and to not have to watch Lebron's face in every other game. The future is looking pretty bright, just gotta keep your head up, and like Tupac Shakur once said, "For every dark night, there's a brighter day." Much Love, Michelle.

QUEENS

This is home. I remember doing those musicals at P.S 70 every month, those fun-filled saturdays in Astoria and Flushing Meadows park with all the fam, those delicious shishkabob stands in every corner along with the gyros and icees carts, the 7 train, the kids hustled in a corner spitting rhymes, the array of ethnic food that you won't get anywhere else, the basement homes, shopping on Steinway, the fireflies in midsummer nights,  La Guardia Airport, teenagers playing handball anywhere and everywhere there were a wall, the realness in people that some misinterpret with being "rude" or "cold". Such love for a city that is filled with endless dreams and desires.  Queens being such a diverse community enables it to come across astounding talents. Some of the best started right here, those including LL Cool J, Run DMC, 50 cent, Mobb Deep, Cormega, Nas, Kool G Rap. Keep Hip Hop alive, I will be home soon <3.
